Cooking, Eating, Cooking, Eating...

I love this time of year! We have cooked and eaten so much lately. I've lost count on the number of pumpkin pies and pumpkin crisps. Seriously about 6 or 7 EACH! I made Buckeyes yesterday, and yes some of us ate them for breakfast.

We had the best Thanksgiving I can remember. Such a fun time with family. I wonder what next year will look like with Porter here? Going to get our Christmas tree was just perfect. The weather was cold, but not too cold and it was a beautiful day. Thank goodness there was no mud at the tree farm, because Emma has to be the most hard headed child ever(new boots). There is the cutest little rest area on the way. It is a little log cabin with all the amenities and a wood stove right in the middle. I love it. I can't wait for Porter to be with us next year. Sean can't either, because then he and Jenna get to take their own car. Little does he know that the girls are going to want to ride with them. So that means, more Jesse, his favorite sister-in-law!

Our tree is a little smaller than usual, but I think it is the prettiest one we've had. Anything beats last years tree(bugs!). We still don't have the front porch decorated. The wind has been terrible. Everything is blowing over or off the porch. The big glider swing we have blew over the rail and is laying upside down beside the house. Oh well, the inside of the house looks pretty. I have a new favorite store, Cranberries and Lace. I got some new Christmas decorations there. Will reminded me that most of ours are getting pretty old.

Jesse has done great with her wisdom teeth. Nothing can stop that girl from eating. The only problem she had was forgetting to take her pain medication with her to babysit last night. Oh yeah, and the fact that her cell phone died and she had to drive home in the snow! Pain, slippery roads, and no cell phone, thank you Jesus for protecting her. That was a long night!

We are such blessed people. When I was laying in bed last night(after Jesse let me know she was home safely) I was wondering why I am blessed the way I am. There I was in a warm, soft, clean bed with a roof over my head, full stomach, healthy, saved, the most amazingly close family. I pray that I never take for granted any of these things. I am so thankful for Porter and the family he will grow up in. He is one blessed baby already.

Porter kicked me!

Sure, I know what it feels like to have a baby kick, but today I got to feel MY grandbaby kick. He kicked so hard my hand jumped! I am so proud of Sean and Jenna. All their hard work is paying off. Married almost 3 years, soon to be 2 Masters Degrees, new home, and baby on the way. Wow, I try not to brag, but it is really hard. I have to thank God for bringing them together in His timing.

I must go make a Pumpkin Pie and Sweet Potato Casserole. I love, love, love Thanksgiving. After being thankful, it's all about eating and family, my two favorite things.

Porter

The whole reason I made this blog is for Porter and future grand-children to be able to read and know how much they are loved, wanted and prayed over. When Sean and Jenna first said they wanted to find out the gender of the baby, Papa(Todd) did not want us to tell him. Well, no one told Jesse that, so when we found out the gender she sent Todd a text telling him. He was very shocked! He knew it was a girl and he thinks he is never wrong about anything. When we pray together at night he continued to pray for Jenna and "the baby". In the last week he has started to pray for Porter by name. The first time I heard it my heart was just so consumed with love. Thinking about Porter as a person instead of just the baby in Jenna's stomach is so different. I don't just wonder what he will look like, but what kind of boy, young man, and man he wil become. I'm so happy to think about the fact that he is being prayed for even before he is born.

Last weekend I got to spend the day with Jenna. Eating, shopping, eating some more, and just having fun looking at baby stuff. The time seems to be flying by. I'm sure the holidays will make it seem even quicker. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving(all that food!). I'm already getting ready, planning menus, and looking at new recipes. I will be doing one new dish for sure. Nobody tell Jenna. She will love it, but it is a surprise. Names have been drawn for Christmas presents also. I always forget who got who, so this year I put the list in my Bible for save keeping. Now if I forget where I put it, everyone that reads this will know.

It's a ...

Thank you Jesus for this amazing, miracle, healthy. beautiful baby BOY. Technology is incredible. We got to see the baby's face; he has Sean's lips. We saw his little arms moving all over the place. He looked so comfortable and happy in there. Hope he's not too happy come March. I'm ready for him to be outta there. Wow, a boy. Jenna with a boy? What will she do? Be the best mom ever! I am so proud of Sean and Jenna. They will be amazing Godly parents.

One Day!!!

I can't believe tomorrow we will know what this sweet, precious little baby is. I totally have no opinion either way. Oh how I can not wait to hold he/she and snuggle and hear all the little sounds babies make. I have no idea what it is going to feel like to hold my grandchild. I guess the whole mother bear feelings apply to grandchildren also, because I feel ferociously protective of this little one.

Let you know tomorrow!!!

One Week!!!

I know I keep saying that time is flying, but it really is. In one week Sean and Jenna will find out what the baby is. It seems like they just told everyone they were expecting, now they're almost half way. This little baby is sooooo loved already. It seems about all we talk about around here is "the baby". Emma and I saw some of the cutest clothes yesterday, and it's really hard not to buy them. I never knew that little baby boy dress shirts(button up)were made like a onesie so it stays tucked in. It was so tiny and cute. Then there was the pale pink little smocked gown. Oh my I think my bank account is in Trouble!

On another note, I'm totally in to Christmas shopping. There's only one problem, I can not for the life of me remember where I hide stuff. Emma said I don't have to hide stuff, that her and Will won't look-yeah right. I did find a little something for Sean, no not a power tool, in case your reading this. Some people are so hard to buy for(Sean, Jesse)!

I rarely get to drive my own car anymore. I think Will and Emma are secretly competing to see who will get their license first. I did call State Farm this week to see how much it will be to add them on our insurance. I just about passed out! I really had no clue.

Todd and I had dinner with Jesse last Saturday. She made the best pizza ever. It had chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, ricotta cheese and mozarella cheese, I think that was all. It was so good. Then a dessert pizza with Nutella and white chocolate and milk chocolate chips. Back to counting points, if you know what I mean.

2 Weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

In 2 weeks we will know if Little Bear is a boy or a girl!!! I'm so excited about seeing the ultrasound. We pray each night for Jenna and the baby to be healthy.

I am so ready to hold this little baby and rock him or her. Todd asked how much longer last night. How funny! We told him that Jenna is 18 weeks. He said, "what does that mean?" Emma and I both pounced and said she's almost half way! I better step up the diaper buying. I put everything on hold until we know the gender. I don't know why I quit buying diapers, they're not gender specific.

There are three little words that I have grown to hate-CAN I DRIVE. I was just thinking the other day that in a few months I will never have to teach another child to drive. WooHoo!!! My two least favorite things about being a mom are: immunizations(poor sweet little unsuspecting baby) and teaching children to drive. See what you have to look forward to, Jenna.

Where To Start

Jenna's doing great. Little Bear is growing, heartbeat 150. Sean and Jenna got the crib and dresser/changing table bought. I get to go to the ultrasound to determine the s*x of the baby, in three and one half weeks.

I wish I knew how to download pics. Jenna is so pretty pregnant!

Papa made a realy big bookshelf for our bedroom. I started a Nonni shelf. I want to put a rocking chair beside it so I can sit and read to Little Bear. I have been in a cleaning frenzy- closets, cabinets, storage room. I want to be available to Jenna and the baby when the time comes, and I don't want to be thinking of all the things I need to be doing at home. I want them done now. I'm pretty sure I'm driving everyone crazy, because sometimes organization has to get worse before it gets better.

And Jenna has felt the baby move.

Busy weekend

What a weekend! We got to work at our new church building-cleaning the inside and yard work. After working there, we came home and had a big cook out. Sean did a great job with the grilling. We had ribs, chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, bread, and cherry dump cake. Jesse did a great job with the potato salad

Then we got to have our first church service there. The preaching was great, and all of us got to go to church together. I loved it. It's nice to be around so many like minded people. Jenna looked very pretty. Less than six weeks and we can find out what the baby is! I can't wait to be able to buy things for Little Bear, other than diapers.

We had a small bonfire last night and made smores. Uh, someone ate four smores. Not me! I could only handle one. They were really good and it was so fun to sit around a fire with cool air all around. I am sooooo ready for Fall.

Caught Up!

I have no idea why it has taken me so long to get caught back up on housework and life since we got home. Anyway, I'm finally caught up!

Jenna's twelve week appointment went great. Baby's heartbeat was 160. Yesterday Todd asked someone if they wanted to see a picture of our first grandbaby. You should of seen his face when he saw the ultrasound picture, then he said, "I've got six of them." I can only imagine our house in the next several years. I hope it is full of grandchildren. Not all Sean's and Jenna's. Unless they want a house full. They have decided to find out the gender. It didn't matter to me either way, but this will make buying things a lot easier. I go back and forth between thinking Little Bear is boy and then a girl. Healthy is all that matters. No big doctor appointments until the 20th week. I can't wait!

Everybody is back to school. Jesse actually did her reading homework, although it was while she was at work-oh well, it got done. So I'm not complaining. Emma and Will are driving more. I can't imagine what our car insurance bill is going to look like by the end of the year. We may have to take out a loan to pay it! Two teenage drivers!

We are having Mexican for dinner, then watching the Duggars. My favorite family, besides mine!

Summer

I honestly can not believe that summer is coming to an end. Jesse, Emma and Will start classes tomorrow. Jenna went back to work this week. What a great summer. We got to swim so much, and visit Jenna a couple of times. We had the best vacation ever. It was so relaxing. I used to feel like I needed a vacation, after vacation, but this one was perfect.
I pulled up the blog and saw that the little bear on the right is moving along, how exciting. Twelve week ultrasound in 2 days! My mind keeps going to Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then March 4th! I can't wait to see Little Bear, hold Little Bear, kiss Little Bear and read to Little Bear. Next vacation is going to be soooo fun with a baby.
I am ready for fall. It seems like it should be getting cooler and the leaves changing color, but I think we have a little while yet. I just want to rush the season because it is my favorite. Pumpkin Pie, Apple Harvest Cake, sweaters, hiking, and cool crisp air. I have had enough of the humidity.
Emma's senior year is bittersweet. She's worked so hard and done a great job in school, but I am not ready for her to be finished. Life-I wish it could come to a standstill, but with Little Bear here.

Beach Bound

I can't wait to see Jenna and Sean tomorrow!!! I can't wait for Jesse to get to the beach! I can't wait to top the hill at Sullivan's Island and see the beach!

I pray this week does not go by too fast. I wouldn't trade it for anything. This time tomorrow we will be there.

Little Bear is ten weeks old today. One-forth of the way. Sometimes it doesn't seem real. I think it seems real to Jenna though...morning sickness, headaches, tired and grouchy, but it's all worth it.

BooHoo

Empty nest and PMS don't make a good combination :(
I'm sure everyone's having a good time at Nanas.

It's so hard to believe that Little Bear is over nine weeks old. Right now the time is flying by. I'm sure after Christmas it's going to feel like forever until March
4th.

5 days until vacation!!!

Fun in the sun

Went to see Jenna and Little Bear on Thursday. Went to Cheescake Factory for the first time. That was a bit overwhelming! We had a great day. I love being with the kids. I was so glad we could all be together. Little Bear and Mama are growing.
Jenna looked so pretty in her bright blue dress. She also taught me how to get free frozen yogurt. We had fun cooling off in the pool, having pizza with Pam and family.
Poor Jesse left the rest of her cheesecake at the house, but I'm taking care of that. Wouldn't want it to go bad.

I've set a goal to try and help Jenna and Sean have atleast a years worth of diapers and wipes by the time the baby gets here. I've got a small start, I love to find them on sale and have a coupon.

I'm so excited about vacation in 7 days. Next year we will have a five month old with us. I can't wait. Little Bear is going to be one spoiled baby. I really don't like equating Little Bears growth with a food item. Lima beans and grapes will never be the same. We need to stick to inches or centimeters.

Emma and I finished Anne of Green Gables. It is THE best movie I've ever seen. I must own the series some day. I will be watching it with any granddaughters that I am blessed with.

Cutest Belly Ever

So Jenna is showing a little. Alot to her! Her belly is so cute. Just touching it and knowing what a miracle is going on in there is amazing. Fearfully and wonderfully made.

Sean very thoughtfully brought pizza home for dinner last night. I can't wait to see him be a dad. I am so glad the trend for dads has changed, and they are so much more hands on than they were years ago. I personally think that makes a very secure child (and happy mama).

Will informed me that it is 11 days until vacation. Yippee! Food, games, food, swimming, food, shopping...did I mention food? We love to cook and eat out! Healthy of course, this year. Next year we will have a five month old with us. Can you imagine the spoiling going on around there?

Papa prays the sweetest prayers for Little Bear. I love to hear him pray for Sean, Jenna and Little Bear. :)

I added a little sidebar. Figured it out all by myself!

The Secret's Out

Yesterday Jenna(dd) and Sean came to lunch after church. We were celebrating Will's 16th birthday. After Will opened all his presents, Jenna told him he had one more. When he opened it and pulled out an infant sleeper, he looked puzzled for just a second, then he realized what it meant. Everyone was so surprised!

I am so happy. Jenna and Sean will be such good parents. As of today Little Bear is eight weeks & three days old. All we could talk about once we got home was "the baby". Todd and Emma think the baby will be a girl. Will and I think Little Bear is a boy. It totally doesn't matter. We just pray for a healthy mama and baby.

As you can see I started using real names, because everyone knows about the blog now.

Finally

Finally I have a minute to update without fear that someone will walk in the room and see me. Keeping this blog a secret is almost impossible.

Okay so the nickname for the baby is"Little Bear". That is so much better that saying "it" for the next nine months, or I guess I should say seven and a half months. I can't wait for everyone else to find out. I am so excited to be a Grandmother(wow that sounded weird), but I can't talk about it.

I have so many prayers, thoughts and hopes for this sweet baby. First my prayer would be that he/she would be brought up to know and love the Lord with all their heart and soul. Everything else will fall into place after that. I wonder will he/she have dark hair like daddy or blond hair like mama. Big blue eyes are most likely. What kind of personality??? Oh how I love Little Bear already! I can't wait for dd to start showing, that's when the fun really begins. Seven weeks five days today!

This and That

Thank goodnes my dd did not make me wait until Thursday to find out if everything was okay. She called me on Wednesday during her appointment. I was in Target with other dd, so I had to act like nothing was going on. She told me the baby's heart beat was 108, and she was 5 weeks and 5 days along, that was on July 7th. I am sooooo excited and having a very hard time not saying anything to anyone about the baby. I am proud of myself, this is the best I have ever kept a secret. I am afraid if I blow it then none of my children will trust me again to keep a secret.
Trying to keep this blog a secret for now is almost impossible also.

Anticipation

So oldest dd calls and says that she wants to wait and tell me the results of her ultrasound until Thursday when we are together. Ugh!!!!!!!!! I am the world's worst with surprises, and I know if I don't hear from her I tend to think the worst. I guess this is where prayer comes in. I don't know if every mothr feels this way, but if something is going in my children's lives, I feel it too. I hate when my children, or anyone for that matter, has to experience hurt, disappointment or sadness. I will keep praying for a healthy mama and baby. Baby has a cute nick name, but I think I'll wait to use it.

Dinner plans for tonight may or may not work out. Youngest dd just called and said she probably won't be back from the lake until 7 or 8pm. May have to put plans for Lemon Pie and games on the back porch on hold until tomorrow.

Becoming a Nonni

On June 25, 2010 I found out that I will be a Nonni. I pray the Lord will help me be the best Nonni I can be. I want to be there to give support in any way possible to my dd and sil. I am a bit nervous as this dd has experienced a miscarriage in the past. Tests so far reveal a healthy pregnancy. She will be going for her first ultrasound next Wednesday, 7/7. Which happens to be my youngest dd's 17th birthday.

The reason I started this blog is to have a permanent record of prayers and blessings and events in my life as a grandmother. I want my children, if they don't know already, and my grandchildren to know what a gift from God that they are to me.
