I'm Here

I had no idea if I could even remember how to sign in to my blog. Sad I know, but it is what it is. Last time I wrote anything Savannah was one week old. Now Jenna is planning her one year old birthday party. I'm just a little slow. So to recap all that I can remember from last November. We all went together to get our Christmas trees at the same place we always do. I think we have gone there for 14 years, except one year we tried something different and ended up with a tree with bugs in it. We went to the Daniel Boone Inn for lunch afterwards. Best I can remember it was very cold, so Jenna stayed in the car with the babies until we got inside. It was a LONG wait. We decided we wanted to go somewhere new next year, oops I mean this year. We had Christmas morning here with three kids, then went to Jenna's for more Christmas and my birthday.
Then the best thing happened...Sean and Jenna moved to Asheville. Sean got a wonderful, blessing of a job. It has been so fun to see them every week. They have a beautiful home, just perfect for their family. Porter and Savannah just light up when I come through the door.
Jesse went and got herself a boyfriend. A real nice Christian guy. They are having fun dating on a budget. Marriage is probably in the future. It's so good to see her happy. She also got a much needed new car! All in God's timing :)
Emma and Will are both in school. So the house is pretty empty during the week, but it's real clean ;) I love the weekends when they are both here, except they have a ton of homework. Emma will graduate next October, then take her state boards, then continue on to another college (that's the plan this week). Will has maybe picked a major...Electrical Engineer, maybe a minor in Philosophy. And yes he and Parker are still together.
We had our annual vacation to Wild Dunes. Every year I think it is the best one yet. We did things a little different this year. Sean and Jenna only stayed in the house with us half the time. It worked out good, because then they had their on little family vacation. We ate at Westend Brewery again, after taking a couple of years off. I love that place! I have to say Porter didn't love the beach. He liked it okay if he was being held, but didn't love the sand or the ocean(takes after his dad)...we'll try again next year. He and Savannah did like the pool, so we spent most of our time there. Oh and I can't forget Page's Okra Grill for breakfast. I think we all ate waaaay too much. Five of us went to Water's Edge Restaurant DURING a tornado, it was TERRIFYING! But delicious.
I am looking forward to Fall. It is starting to be cool in the morning and at night, but still pretty warm during the day. Hopefully we will go to the Apple Orchard in the next couple of weekends. Last year Todd stood in line for over an hour to get Apple Cider Doughnuts, maybe he will do it again :)

Savannah Joy Mitchell

I have been blessed with another Grandbaby! My amazingly strong daughter delivered a healthy, beautiful little girl on October 30th at 8:04pm. With her husband coaching and encouraging her she was able to push her out in only(I say that lightly, because I wasn't the one pushing. Savannah entered the world very quietly, not screaming, and she's been that way since. She weighed 7.77lbs, rounded up to 7.8lbs. She was 21 inches long. She looked just like her brother.
I have to say her brother loves her. He was so sweet with her! He kissed, and patted, and held her for the longest time. All the while being ever so gentle. His little face lit up when his mama came walking in the door with her at home. I do think that he thinks she was made just for him :)

????

Still here. I know what the problem is. I am technology challenged. I have a very hard time posting pictures, therefore I don't want to write anything, because to be honest I like most blogs for the pictures.
Since last post, my oldest daughter is expecting again( in two days!), a girl this time, my second oldest daughter bought herself a car(Jeep Liberty)and is doing some online work to possibly change jobs within the same hospital she works for, my youngest daughter is in school full-time and working, my youngest of all is AWAY at school! My grandson has a mouth full of teeth, is talking really good, and has loads of personality. My son-in-law is still plugging away as an accountant and doing a great job supporting his family. I am one proud Mama and Nonnie!
I probably have the cleanest house in the neighborhood, because the only thing I know to do with all this free time is clean. I said that I might open a grief counceling service for homeschool moms. Someone should have told me how awful this would feel. I feel like I shoud go recruit other people's kids and teach them something. I've changed my goal from trying to blog once a week to trying to blog once every six months. Maybe I can do that. I hate setting goals that are unobtainable.

My Little "P" Man

I'm not even going to start this out with an apology for how long it has been. It is what it is!

The letter "P" is my favorite letter right now. It has many meanings, my favorite being Porter. When he stayed at Nonni's house for the first time, we found out it could also mean, Peas, Pee, Poop... any variety of things. It also means Praise. I Praise God for this Perfect little blessing He has brought into our lives.

I can not believe that he will be a year old in 5 days. I can't wait for the Party! My little "P" man has brought so much joy to so many people.

I've Waited Forty-six Years For This

I finally got to be one of those GrandMas that you see at the mall with their daughter and grandbaby. I've waited forever for that experience, and I wasn't one bit disappointed. It was even better than I thought it would be. Porter was perfect! Perfectly adorable, perfectly funny, and perfectly sweet. Especially when he just leaned his head against mine and stayed there. I wouldn't have moved for the world. Oh how spoiled that baby would be if I were any closer. Jenna and I had so much fun picking out clothes and pajamas for him. I love all the thought that went into those pj's. I can't wait to do it again, with lunch(stupid diet).

Emma had her first craft show. Live and learn is all I have to say about that. She has some beautiful aprons, burp clothes, and taggie blankets if anyone is interested. Just leave me a comment.

Will is filling out college applications. Did I just say that? He's the youngest. What happened? I thought I just changed his diaper. There is no telling where he will end up. I've realized that if I suggest it, he will not apply. So I'm thinking about suggesting oly colleges that over an hour away. That way he will stay close;)

It's almost time to gobble til I wobble. I can't wait. I love Thanksgiving! Giving thanks to God for all he has done this year is going to take a while. I realize that not just this week but all year we are to continually give thanks. Even for the trials. Things I am thankful for...Sean and Jenna having a healthy delivery, Porter, my husband, children, and myself having salvation, our health, and our love for each other. When one of us falls the others are there to pick them up, brush them off and encourage them to try again. There aren't too many families like that.

A Little of Nothing

I had to get this post in before midnight so that I could keep up with the once a week blogging goal.

Not much has gone on this week. But here goes... Will had his state cross country meet in Winston Salem. He did his personal best, then I got to go to Old Salem. I loved it. Will had his last cross country meet of the year and got lost driving there, and missed it. Not a happy time! I didn't see Jesse any this week, but rumor has it she has no clean scrubs or underwear...according to Nana. I don't think any big news came out of the Mitchell household, other than smoking meat in the front yard, aka redneck. Emma's been all crafty, getting ready for the show.

I cooked a new recipe, it was really good. I'll share it next time.
